Push Periodical - No Skateboarding? 2018 Photo Annual
Welcome to the PP 2018 Photo Annual. But beware-There are no skate photos in this magazine. A gimmicky idea? If you like; but when you think about it, most of skateboarding is not skateboarding. Or at least, the amount of time spent actually trying/doing skate tricks is dwarfed by the amount of time spent sitting on skateboards talking about skating, pushing around the streets, looking for spots, meeting the locals, talking to the homeless, reasoning with security, evading the police, walking up hills, bombing down them, stretching before the session, smoking during it, having some beers after it, dealing with the injuries, watching skate videos, looking at skate magazines, and thinking (thinking, thinking) about skating. So when I say there are no skate photos in this magazine, they are, really, all skate photos. And truer ones than photos of tricks. And, after all, the point of skateboarding shouldn't be tricks. So this issue is dedicated to the in-between moments. Shot over the course of 2018; this is our life. - Richard Hart.
