Being a semi professional skater and secondly a photographer as a hobby has allowed me to jump over the stepping-stones straight to shooting some extremely talented people. Wether that’s a gift or a curse I don’t know, but I’ve managed to fluke some half decent photos over the years.
The following imagery is in my opinion my best “work” thus far.
I cherish these split seconds I have captured.
Wether or not these photos are magazine material, they are a reminder of how lucky I have been to experience each incredible moment and how rad street skateboarding really is. I say street skateboarding, as you’ll never see this shit practising for the next big skate comp or hanging out at the park all day. Never. Don’t get me wrong, I like all types of skating but this street shit.. Goddamn. It will take you on some incredible adventures that no other hobby can take you on. Yeah you might win some big cheques winning some comps, but you cant put a price on cruising downtown Manhattan with Jahmal Williams or witnessing Tom Snape fakie 5-0 a waist high ledge at Lincoln Square or bombing a hill after a house party in San Francisco.
Nothing can compare to this culture we all know and love.
Yes, winter is cold, yes it’s almost impossible to make a healthy living from skating, and yes the spots are burned out, but we are extremely privileged to be apart of a culture that provides a platform for an unlimited amount of creativity and fun. Lets keep shooting photos, filming videos, making zines, travelling the world & exploring new cities.
The streets are ours motherfucker.
